Abigail Bethell

Abigail Bethell is a talented and determined young athlete who is already establishing herself as one of New Zealand’s promising cross country and middle-distance runners. In 2025, she placed 12th in the NZ Secondary Schools Year 9 Cross Country race and also reached the final of the NZ Schools Junior 1500m, an event where she has recorded an impressive time of 4 minutes 45 seconds. She continued her strong progression in 2026, finishing 7th in the NZ Secondary Schools Cross Country race and winning the Auckland U16 Cross Country Championship.

Beyond her athletic achievements, Abigail is equally committed to her personal development and school life. She is currently preparing for her Grade 7 Speech and Drama exams and is working towards her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, demonstrating initiative, discipline, and a willingness to challenge herself in different areas. Academically, she is performing strongly and is part of accelerated classes for English, Science, and Social Studies.

Abigail is known for being reliable, focused, hardworking, and mature beyond her years. She has served as a class captain and is recognised for her consistent effort, dedication, and positive contribution as a valued member of a team. Whether in the classroom, the track, on the cross country course, or through her wider commitments, Abigail brings a strong work ethic and a determined attitude to everything she does.
